The Baird, center for the South Orange Department of Recreation and Cultural Affairs, is both a recreational hub as well as an arts destination for the whole family.
This spacious 100 year old Tudor-esque building set in Meadowland Park houses the Administrative offices for the department, the Pierro Gallery of South Orange, The Theater on 3, the Main Room, the Side Room, the Loft Space, Arts Room, Baird Pre-School, Kinder-enrichment and Senior Services Unit offices. Most programs presented by The Baird are held in this facility or in the surrounding park.
The mission and goals for the Pierro Gallery of South Orange (PGOSO) is to offer experience and exposure to contemporary visual artists and to our communities. We will continue to exhibit the work of diverse, established and emerging visual artists in a non-commercial, user-friendly venue.
Though there is a special sensitivity toward regional artists, the Gallery is open to considering the work of any visual artist for exhibition. An additional role of PGOSO is to educate, inform and enlighten visitors of all ages and backgrounds through continuous exhibitions and related programming.
